This course aims to introduce listening, speaking, reading, and writing in business English to students. Students will learn how to communicate effectively in their workplace or to find a job in an international environment. The content of the course will be based on authentic videos and articles from the leading media organizations such as BBC and the Financial Times. These materials will offer a wealth of international business information and real examples of British, US, and non-native speaker English. Students will learn: *Communication skills: you will learn how to collaborate effectively with people whose personality and culture may be different from your own in business English. *Business skills: you will learn the practical skills you need in different business situations, such as skills for engaging presentations and effective meetings in business English.
ATTENTION!! You MUST be present on the first day of class or you will be dropped from the course.
Requirements & Rules: *Please do not use ChatGPT or any AI programs to write your assignments. *The instructor reserves the right to change the syllabus when necessary. *Full attendance and active engagement in class discussions is integral to the success of the course. Late arrivals and /or unexcused absences will affect your grade. Grading: 1. Classroom participation: 10% 2. Midterm exam: (Paper-based exam) 25% 3. Final exam: (a film list with approximately 10 to 15 documentary film Urls which relate to the course subject will be provided, students must choose a film to view it at home. Each documentary film is approximately one hour in length, students must write a critique paper, and use your paper to make a PPT to support your in-class 6 minutes presentation) 25% 4. Homework: 20% 5. Quiz: 20%
