華語(一)

This course is comprised of listening, speaking, reading, and writing lessons. The class focuses on the Pinyin system, and intonation and is designed for beginners to use basic dialogues in their daily life and to read and write basic and commonly used Chinese characters and sentence patterns. Course Objectives: 1. Learn to use Hanyu Pinyin. 2. Learn the structure, stroke order and writing of Chinese characters. 3. Understand basic Chinese sentence patterns, word order, and structure. 4. Acquire basic communication skills, including self-introduction and asking questions. 5. Understand more about Chinese culture.

No Chinese background is required for this course.

Lectures, class activities, group discussion, task-based learning. Course policy: 1. The lecturer reserves the right to drop and reject the students who miss the first and/ or second class. 2. Complete assignments on time. Late homework will not be accepted. 3. The lecturer reserves the right to make changes to the course schedule based on the progress of the class and other unexpected circumstances.
