This course is composed of three sections. First, students will first review basic neurophysiology in the neuromuscular system. Second, students will learn surface EMG signal origin, and principles of recording and analysis, plus two hands-on courses for practice. Third, students will learn basics and application of intramuscular EMG, including recording and analysis, plus two hands-on courses for practice. There will be two literature review and discussion courses for classical and recently published articles in the field. Students will review and present literatures related to their research interests. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. The students will understand the neurophysiological principles of EMG and related terminology. 2. The students will gain hands-on experience with recording and analysis techniques 3. The student will be able to interpret the EMG data and conduct scientific presentation of the results
Mixture of lectures and laboratory (use EMG system to collect data and perform signal analysis)
30% midterm, 40% final, 30% class presentation & discussion participation
