課程概述 This course focuses on developing advanced knowledge of pharmacology in acute and chronic disease management across life cycle. Principles of clinical pharmacology, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics and drug metabolism will be introduced. Major drug classes will be discussed in relation to whole body systems, with emphasis on the application of these agents with considerations in children, adults, pregnant women, and elderly. The course builds upon students’ undergraduate education and graduate courses, particularly their pathophysiology, pharmacology, and clinical experience. This course is student-focused and prepares APNs’ clinical reasoning skills and competency to accurately prescribe with doctors, administer, and provide consultation to patients and healthcare professional a safe, appropriate, and effective medication management. In addition, APNs will be prepared for medication prescriptive authority within their scope of practice. 課程目標 • Understand the pharmacological and pharmacokinetic principles • Identify factors related to pharmaceutical research, general prescription guideline, patient education, and factors (e.g. economics and government regulations) related to prescribing • Apply the most common drug knowledge, related treatment protocols and prescribing parameters for patient with various health conditions • Develop the safety culture in medication management
This course will be delivered by lecturing and discussion in either online or in-class method. Pharmacology and common medication categories used in various health conditions will first be introduced. Students are encouraged to integrate their knowledge and clinical experience in making proper medication management plan through the case discussion, which provides the student-centered learning experience.
