概述

Course Overview: This writing course is designed to teach college students how to write in an academic and professional context. You will learn how to structure different types of essays depending on the rubric or task you are trying to achieve. You will be taught how to plan, execute, and finalize your essay. There will be multiple small practice exercises as well as different essay tasks to further train you in the appropriate use of vocabulary and transitions. The ultimate goal of this course is to make you a more confident writer and provide you with the necessary skills to continue improving on your own. Course Outcomes: 1. This writing course prepares students to respond to contextual academic and professional writing. 2. Practicing writing short paragraphs and essays will familiarize students with different types of college essays. 3. Students will learn how to analyze and write cause & effect essays, comparison essays, reaction essays, and argument essays. 4. Students will learn how to write research papers and cite sources.

This course makes use of some online resources provided by the textbook publisher. No electronic devices (phones, tablets, computers etc.) allowed.

評分方式

Grading: Midterm Exam 30 % - An essay of 600 words. Final Exam 35 % - An essay of 700 words. Attendance 35% - This score includes regular attendance (you are considered absent if you are more than 20 min late or if you are absent from the classroom for more than 20 min during class time), class participation, and completing homework assignments.
