概述

This course aims to polish students' public speaking skills through various types of storytelling. The course intends to facilitate students to establish more accurate and more fluent speaking skills for further real-life and business-related situations.

先修科目

Prepare a two-minute story about you to make me remember you in the first class.

教學方式

◦ All announcements and assignments will be posted in google classroom. Attendance: ◦ If you should be absent from class, you must obtain an official leave through Students' Leave Application System. You may take up to 3 leaves per semester. Every leave after the third time will result in 2 points off the final grade. ◦ If you do not obtain an official leave, each absence will result in 2 points off the final grade. ◦ I will do a roll call each class. If you are late, each time will result in 0.5 point off the final grade. Showing up 20 minutes after a class starts is considered absence. ◦ If you disappear during the class, such as taking a long break for more than 20 minutes, you are considered absent. Participation: ◦ Participation takes up 15% of your final grade. Speak up as much as you can in each class. Look at what consists of the grading of participation. ◦ Each time you speak up in class, 0.5 to 1 points will be added to your participation score. ◦ The first-half-of-semester participation score will be shown to you during midterm. Delay of assignment: ◦ Each delay of the assignment will result in 20% off the assignment. Four days after the deadline will result in another 20% off. ◦ If you don't show up on your presentation, the assignment will be graded 0. Grading of presentations: ◦ Group presentations mean each member in the same group gets the same score in the assignment. Please note that the course schedule and content are tentative. Changes might occur according to students' learning needs. You are very welcome to talk to me regarding course assignments or suggestions. Private talks are irrelevant to your grading.
