Aim of the course: give students knowledge of numerical solutions of electromagnetic wave problems, relevant mathematical theory, and pros & cons of different formulations and software approaches. The course will follow approximately the following tentative syllabus: 1. Review of Electromagnetics Principles a. Integral Equation (IE) Methods b. Introduction to Method of Moment i. Plane wave scattering from wires, strips, cylinders ii. Waveguide Mode Matching c. Spectral Green's Functions for Multilayer Structures d. Waveguide/Cavity Green's Functions 2. Differential Equation (DE) Methods a. Finite Difference Approaches, Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) Method b. Finite Element Method 3. High-Frequency Asymptotic Techniques a. Geometrical Optics (GO) Ray Tracing b. Physical Optics (PO)
