The course will explore the legal and policy framework surrounding the aging population in Japan. It covers various topics, including employment and retirement policies, community engagement, end-of-life care, gerontechnology, social security, property management, and legal access for the elderly. The course also examines critical issues such as elder abuse, crime involving older adults, and the growing elderly prison population. Through lectures by distinguished professors and legal experts, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of Japan's elder law and policy, its challenges, and potential solutions. The course concludes with student presentations, fostering critical analysis and discussion on key topics. 本課程將探討日本高齡人口相關的法律與政策框架,涵蓋多個議題,包括就業與退休政策、社區參與、臨終照護、銀髮科技、社會保障、財產管理以及高齡者的司法權益等。此外,課程亦關注高齡者虐待、高齡者犯罪以及監獄內老年人口增加等議題。 透過多位知名教授與法律專家的授課,學生將深入理解日本的高齡者法制及政策,認識其挑戰與可能的解決方案。課程最終將以學生報告作結,鼓勵批判性思考的形成與重要議題的討論。

1. 每週邀請專家學者進行專題演講 2. 期末由修課學生撰寫書面報告並口頭發表 3. 本課程為全英語授課 4. 指定閱讀文獻將置於E3教學平台;講者與修課學生須順利上網修課。 1. Experts and scholars are invited each week to deliver special lectures. 2. At the end of the course, enrolled students are required to submit a written report and deliver an oral presentation. 3. This course is conducted entirely in English. 4. The assigned readings will be available on the E3 teaching platform; both speakers and enrolled students must have stable internet access for the course.
1.出席(10%):老師會於課堂上進行說明。 2.期末上台簡報(30%):選擇與這系列講座相關的一個議題,並從比較法的角度撰寫一篇論文,並於6/4或6/11進行提案簡報(或提交完整的最終論文),每場簡報時間為 12-15 分鐘。 3.期末書面報告(60%):將提案簡報內容撰寫為書面報告(論文需與簡報為相同主題)。字數:英文2000字以下或日文1000字以下。 1. Attendance (10%): The instructor will provide explanations during the class. 2. Final Presentation (30%): Choose a topic related to this series of lectures and write a paper from a comparative law perspective. Present your proposal (or submit the full final paper) on June 4 or June 11. Each presentation should be 12-15 minutes long. 3. Final Written Report (60%): Convert the content of your proposal presentation into a written report (the presentation and the paper must be on the same topic). Word count: Maximum 2,000 words in English or 1000 words in Japanese.
