This course aims to advance students' listening and speaking skills. Students will further develop listening skills (e.g., identifying main ideas, details, making inferences, and note-taking) through less simplified and authentic listening materials. Students will also develop speaking skills through a variety of interactive activities. By the end of the course, students will learn to: 1. comprehend listening materials which cover more specialized or sophisticated topics. 2. identify and analyze points of view, arguments, or implicit information in the listening material. 3. learn to summarize and respond to listening materials in proper speaking (e.g., a summary, reflection passage, or short essay). 4. continue to build paragraph and speaking skills.
Students need upper-intermediate level of English proficiency.

Students who take this course need to be aware that it is mandatory to attend most sessions. The scores will be evaluated upon the following criteria: Attendance (10%) Participation (40%) Mid-term Exam (25%) Final Exam (25%)

| 第 2 週 | Theme: Cultural Literacy *Warm-up activities. Several questions related to the theme will be given at first. Then, based on each context, do the varied interactive activities. For example, ask students with books close to listen a conversation and fill in the blanks after that. Check students’ comprehension through discussions, sharing...etc. |
