Taiwan government’s statistics indicated that aged 65 years and above reached 17.6 % of the total population. This share has been projected to grow to 41% in 2060. Due to Taiwan aging rapidly, the Elder Care knowledge become crucial while Taiwan will become a Super-Aged Society. This course aims to introduce reading, listening, speaking, and writing in “English for Elder Care.” Specifically, course units offer step by step instruction to develop students’ professional knowledge in Elder Care vocabulary and contexts. The following topics of Elder Care will be introduced and discussed in classes, such as the facilities and locations, the medication, the administration, the fall prevention, the common diseases, and the legal concerns. Students will learn: *A variety of realistic reading passages *Career-specific dialogues in elder care *45 reading and listening comprehension checks. *Over 400 vocabulary terms and phrases *Guided speaking and writing exercises.
ATTENTION!! You MUST be present on the first day of class or you will be dropped from the course.
Teaching Methodology: Lectures, videos, podcasts, assessments, and group discussion related to the topics will be implemented to the course.
