華語(一)

This course is comprised of listening, speaking, reading, and writing lessons. The class focuses on the Pinyin system, and intonation and is designed for beginners to use basic dialogues in their daily life and to read and write basic and commonly used Chinese characters and sentence patterns. Course Objectives: 1. Learn to use Hanyu Pinyin. 2. Learn the structure, stroke order and writing of Chinese characters. 3. Understand basic Chinese sentence patterns, word order, and structure. 4. Acquire basic communication skills, including self-introduction and asking questions. 5. Understand more about Chinese culture.

No Chinese background is required for this course.

Course policy: 1. Students must attend the first two weeks of class. If you are unable to attend for any reason, please obtain approval from the instructor via email before the semester begins. 2. Complete assignments on time. Late homework will not be accepted. 3. Attend classes regularly and on time. 4. The lecturer reserves the right to make changes to the course schedule based on the progress of the class and other unexpected circumstances.
