The theme of this module is to be an exploration of emerging low-dimensional nanostructures. An aim of the module is to understand the concepts and methods developed for synthesising a range of nanomaterials. A further aim is to learn how these nanostructures can be organised and integrated into functional architectures using a combination of top-down and bottom-up methods. Along with introducing their recent progress in electronic and optoelectronic research, hopefully, this module can provide a sense of perspective about exploiting low-dimensional nanostructures for individuals who are interested in the fields of nanotechnology, solid-state physics, material science, electrical and electronic engineering and device applications. Lectures and discussions on nanomaterials, nanoscale physical phenomena, nanofabrication, characterisation and device engineering and optoelectronic applications will be included.
