This course provides an overview of fundamental topics in inorganic chemistry. Atomic structure: this topic Introduces the fundamentals needed to explain atomic structure in qualitative and semiquantitative terms. Simple bonding theory: Lewis Electron-dot diagrams, VSEPR, mollecular polarity, hydrogen bonding .Symmetry and group theory: Symmetry Elements and operations, properties and representations of groups.Molecular orbital theory, crystal field and ligand field theory. Acid-Base and Donor-Acceptor Chemistry. Introduction to coordination compounds.The course will provide a foundation for further education in inorganic chemistry directed towards chemical materials, organometallic catalysts, energy and process chemistry.
