Through participation in the course, the student will be able to: 1. Understand Gerontechnology Fundamentals – To explore the principles of gerontechnology and its role in enhancing the quality of life for older adults through innovative applications. 2. Analyze Smart Care Technologies – To evaluate various smart care technologies, including AI-driven monitoring systems, assistive devices, and IoT-based health management solutions for elderly care. 3. Assess the Impact of Gerontech Solutions – To Examine the social, ethical, and economic implications of integrating gerontechnology into healthcare, long-term care, and community support systems. 4. Design and Implement Gerontech Systems – To develop hands-on experience in designing and implementing user-friendly gerontechnology applications tailored to the needs of aging populations. 5. Explore Future Trends and Innovations – To Investigate emerging trends in gerontechnology, such as robotics, wearable health tech, and innovative environments, and their potential to reshape aging care.
This course explores the innovative use of AI technologies to improve the quality of life and healthcare for elderly populations. Students will learn how to design, develop, and deploy systems tailored to the needs of the aging demographic.
1. Attendance (20%) 2. Class participation (20%) 3. Midterm project (30 %) For the midterm project, students will work in teams to design and develop a prototype of a gerontechnology solution. They will create system architecture diagrams, wireframes, and initial functional prototypes, applying best practices in usability, accessibility, and interoperability. The project will be evaluated based on technical feasibility, user-friendliness, and real-world applicability. 4. Final presentation (30 %) For the final presentation, students will demonstrate a working prototype or system model, showcasing key functionalities and their potential impact on elderly care. The presentation will include a technical overview, user testing results, and an implementation roadmap, emphasizing how the system can be deployed in real-world aging care environments.
