This course will introduce the field of second language acquisition with a focus on understanding current theory and thinking. The course will examine the major issues in SLA theory, research methods, and application through readings in the course texts and professional articles, analysis and discussion of those texts, and through students' own research projects.
This course will be a discussion-based seminar. (Tentative) 1) Discussion leading and participation: 30% 2) Assignments (3): 20% 3) Research paper (including bibliography and proposal): 40% 4) Presentation of research paper: 10%
