運輸經濟與政策

本課程介紹運輸產業之經濟特性,使研究生了解消費者、營運者及管制者之行為與分析方法。本課程另將由運輸經濟學的角度探討現代都市運輸問題,包括安全、擁擠、大眾運輸補貼等。 This course introduces the economic characteristics of transportation industries. Students will develop an understanding and capability in modeling and interpreting the econometric models for the behaviors of passengers, operators and regulators of transportation. We will also discuss contemporary urban transportation issues including safety, congestion, and transit subsidy.

This is a lecture-based course supplemented with real case studies. Students are expected to read class materials before the class; students are also encouraged to discuss the materials in the class. One or two guest speakers who are practicing transportation economics will be invited in the class; if possible, I will invite one speaker who serves in the public sector and the other serving in the private sector. Please let me (or the TA) know (anonymously, if you wish) what is going right and what is going wrong with lectures, assignments, content, etc. It is far better for all of us if we can work on these problems during the course and leave you satisfied at the end.
