CLASS RULES 1. In order to assess students’ subsequent writing, every officially-enrolled student must complete the pre-writing session in the first week. If you have not signed up for this course in the first week and have missed the session, please come to me in person after you successfully sign up for the class. 2. Attendance, lesson preparation and active participation are required. - Attendance will be taken from the first week and frequently throughout the semester. Points will be taken away for each lateness, absence and any type of leave. Your grade will suffer a failure if you are absent, no matter what your reasons are, up to six weeks. - Every week students need to preview the lessons and write exercises. Come prepared and you may expect to be called to share your preparation. - Active participation in class discussion and activities is also required. To get higher score for “Attendance and participation” category, you must earn points by voluntarily participating in class activities orally. - We have various in-class activities every week, so frequent attendance will ensure your fulfillment in this category. Due to limited weeks, any request on make-up in-class activities and presentations will not be accepted. 3. If you expect to ask for a leave, take a leave in person beforehand and show me your proof. If your reason for absence is beyond control, please provide a valid proof within two weeks. For a sick leave, the medication proof should be provided in the week when you return to the class. 4. There will be no make-up exams unless valid and official reasons for absence are presented beforehand. In the case of being absent for the mid-term exam and presenting a proof of justifiable reason after the exam, your grade will lose 30%. 5. Submit all of the writing assignments on time. Every writing assignment loses 10% per day when the assignment is due (including weekend), and any assignment which is late on the fourth day will not be accepted and considered zero. Absence cannot be an excuse of not knowing assignment submission or what has been discussed in that class.
