This course introduces fundamental techniques and algorithms used in digital image processing (DIP), with a focus on applications in satellite imagery and geospatial data. Starting from the basics of image formation, sampling, enhancement, and restoration, the course progresses toward advanced methods in feature extraction, pattern recognition, and multi-modal data integration. Students will explore real-world use cases in environmental monitoring, urban planning, disaster response, agricultural analysis, and hyperspectral imaging—many derived directly from current research and state-of-the-art projects. Emphasis will be placed on practical algorithm development, critical evaluation of image processing pipelines, and the application of machine learning and AI to satellite data.
