Biochemistry is one of the most important basic courses in the field of biomedicine, and it widely covers several topics in biophysics and biochemicals, biomolecules, enzymatics, metabolism, and genetic information. In this class, we focus on the bioenergy conversion and metabolism that are mediated through enzyme/coenzyme activity. How nutrients are catabolized in cells, and how micromolecules are anabolized to macromolecules for energistic conservation. The interconversion between different types of biomolecules, as well as the critical intermediates will also be introduced. Furthermore, the nutrients metabolism in various organs, and the transport of metabolites among organs are also important parts of this course. The diseases caused by genetic inability of metabolic pathways are also discussed here.
