概述

本課程的意圖是提供主修公共衛生的研究生一個接觸醫療人類學、並了解其概要的管道。然而儘管醫療人類學已經是一個存在一段時間、基礎相當穩固的領域，該如何介紹學科的輪廓，乃至於如何撰寫學科的歷史，依然存在各種可能。如果再進一步考量本課程學生的異質性，包括原先對醫療人類學（包括範圍更廣的母學科人類學，以及其他和醫療相關的人文社會學科）的認識，對課程的需要與期待，以及本身所處的研究階段等，即便看似簡單的「概論」，其實也會變成相當複雜的問題。相較於更公平與均勻地介紹學科的各個組成份子，本課程聚焦在我（以及相當一部分人）所以為的「核心」，我們認為這條線構成了醫療人類學的骨幹與獨特之處—當然，可能也有不少人並不這麼認為。不過，與其爭論好的「概論」應該包含什麼樣的內容，本課程希望把重點放在一些對人文社會學科的研究生來說共同的重點上，例如，把自己當成研究者與作者，用這樣的心態與視角來做每一件和學術相關的事。這是很小的一步，卻也不太容易跨出去。人文社會學科的課堂總是重視討論，然而實際運作上，不同課程的狀況差異頗大，從以講課為主到以討論為主，形成相當寬廣的光譜。然而對本課程來說，側重討論有不得不的必然，由於授課者不久前接受頸椎手術，還需要一段時間才能恢復，目前說話聲音較小，講課也無法持久，因此學生勢必要更積極地參與才行。

評分方式

課堂參與討論 (30%) 導讀（30%）：上課前一天的晚上九點前上傳一份一至兩頁的 discussion memo，內容不能只是摘要文本的內容或意旨，更重要的是從「研究者的角度」對文本進行分析與批判，並提出適合討論的問題。從第四週開始，每人必須選擇兩週。期末報告（40%)：詳情稍後公佈
