This course introduces the concepts of natural language processing (NLP) and text mining. The applications of NLP and text mining are mentioned at the beginning. After that, basic concept from NLP, including name entity recognition, name entity relation recognition, information retrieval and information extraction. Then, more advance neural networks methods, including RNN, LSTM and GRU are introduced. Finally, generative AI and large language model (LLM) are incorporated in biomedical text mining project implementation.
Knowledge about artificial intelligence or machine learning (optional, not required).
This distance learning course will be taught in English with mostly asynchronous learning, partly synchronous learning and one classroom learning.
