This course introduces students to the concepts and applications of text mining in the biomedical and healthcare domains. Students will learn how to explore and transform language data from clinical records, research papers, and patient narratives into useful insights. No programming skills are required—students will use user-friendly software and case studies to understand the basic methods, applications, and ethical considerations of text mining.
Knowledge about artificial intelligence or machine learning (optional, not required).
This course will be taught in English with mostly classroom learning, partly synchronous learning and asynchronous learning.
Class participation & discussions: 15% Assignments & short reports: 35% Quizzes: 10% Group project presentation: 25% Final class report: 15%
