This course offers an advanced overview of the principles of mass spectrometry and its applications in chemical, environmental, biological, and food analysis. It introduces key ionization techniques, mass analyzers, and hyphenated systems, with a focus on method development, data interpretation, and problem-solving in real-world analytical scenarios. Through case studies and discussions based on the literature, students will learn how to select and design appropriate mass spectrometry workflows for specific analytical questions, as well as how to assess their performance and limitations critically.
