一、Course Introduction: This advanced course is designed for graduate students seeking to build and commercialize scalable solutions for the global aged care and health industry, with a strong emphasis on leveraging advanced Smart Technology (AI, IoT, Wearable Devices) in Long-Term Care (LTC). The course adopts a studio-based, project-driven learning approach. A core pillar of this course is the development of professional English communication skills for the global business environment. Students will not only design a viable HealthTech startup concept but also master the art of delivering a persuasive English Pitch Deck, crafting a professional Business Proposal, and engaging in Academic Presentations and Debates—all conducted exclusively in English. 二、Course Objectives Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Analyze Advanced Health Ecosystems: Critically evaluate complex LTC ecosystems and identify high-leverage innovation points for advanced AI/IoT applications. 2. Formulate Deep Tech Strategy: Design novel, data-driven solutions using deep learning, sensor fusion, or robotics that address significant, measurable problems in long-term care. 3. Master Global Business Communication: Develop, write, and deliver compelling, professional documents (Business Proposals, Pitch Decks, Academic Papers) and presentations entirely in English for international stakeholders (investors, partners, academics). 4. Execute Commercialization & Funding: Translate a prototype into a scalable business model (SaaS, Platform-as-a-Service) and successfully prepare a pitch deck for venture capital and a high-impact Industry-Academia Project Proposal for grant funding. 5. Simulate Startup Operation: Simulate the practical aspects of running a HealthTech venture, including regulatory pathways, IP strategy, and international market entry.
一、Course Activities This course emphasizes practical application, peer learning, and direct exposure to the global health technology ecosystem. 1. Interactive Seminars & Case Study Analysis: Weekly discussions centered on advanced readings, recent market failures, and successful HealthTech unicorn case studies from international markets. 2. Advanced English Academic Literature Review: Critical analysis and synthesis of cuttingedge research in GeronTech, AI in LTC, and digital health regulatory science. 3. Deep Tech Prototyping Workshops: Hands-on sessions focusing on designing and validating Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for innovative LTC solutions (e.g., sensor integration, data pipeline architecture, basic predictive modeling). 4. International Guest Speaker Series: Sessions featuring global startup founders, venture capitalists, and regulatory experts, emphasizing Q&A and networking in English. 5. Pitch Deck & Business Proposal Studio: Weekly team work sessions dedicated to drafting, refining, and rehearsing the English pitch deck and written business proposal. 6. Institutional / Field Visits (Optional): Visits to local hospitals, innovative LTC facilities, or HealthTech accelerators to observe real-world challenges and technology deployment.
一、Course Evaluation and Grading 1. Attendance (20%) 2. Class participation (20%) Active, well-reasoned contribution to weekly discussions, case analysis, and English Q&A sessions. 3. Midterm project (30 %) An individual or small-group presentation on an advanced literature review or a technological PoC, focusing on clear, articulate English academic expression. 4. Final presentation (30 %) A comprehensive written report (3,000 words max) detailing the startup's market, solution (Smart LTC App), financial model, and Go-to-Market strategy. Must be written entirely in English. A compelling 20-minute all-English pitch deck presentation to a panel of external industry/international judges, simulating a real funding scenario.
