| 第 1 週 | The lecture will focus on how MRI works and its related applications. |
| 第 2 週 | The lecture will focus on investigating the neuronal circuits in healthy and diseased brain. During lab visiting, we will show following techniques or approaches including, electrophysiology, optogenetics, chemogenetics, histology, juxtacellular recording, miniscope Ca2+ imaging of single cells and behavioral tests. |
| 第 3 週 | The lecture will focus on the basic principles of extracellular neurophysiology and behavior training. The lab section will include a brief intro to electrode building, stereotaxic surgery, operant training chambers, and recording setup. |
| 第 4 週 | The lecture will introduce recent advances in protein neural activity sensors and their applications. |
| 第 5 週 | In the lecture, students will learn different techniques that are applied to behaving animals for studying brain functions during learning, their advantages/disadvantages, and how they could complement others. We will use the neural signals in the hippocampus as an example to show how hippocampal activities are coordinated with mice behaviors such as running, whisking, pupil dilation and learning. |
| 第 6 週 | In this class, we will introduce the brain cells “glia” and discuss how these cells contribute to different aspects of brain development and function. Particularly, we will emphasize on the role of glia in neurodegenerative diseases and innate behaviors. |
| 第 7 週 | First, we will have online lecture to induce the basic theories related to cortical plasticity and cognitive enhancement, experiment design and application of brain stimulation in Cognitive Neuroscience, such as TMS and tDCS. After the lecture, a online lab tour will demonstrate a standard cognitive enhancement experiment applying brain stimulation technique. |
