概述

Writing is a social practice closely connected to real-world literacies. This course aims to develop students’ awareness of different genres, analyze their conventions, identify audiences and purposes, and build writing competence for both academic and real-life contexts, with the goal of advancing their writing skills at B2 level. At least 50% of the course content focuses on academic writing. This writing course is designed to teach college students how to write in an academic and professional context. You will learn how to structure different types of essays depending on the rubric or task you are trying to achieve. You will be taught how to plan, execute, and finalize your essay. The ultimate goal of this course is to make you a more confident writer and provide you with the necessary skills to continue improving on your own. Students will also engage in practical writing tasks such as emails. Throughout the course, students will learn to explore the conventions, formats, and styles of various genres and practice outlining and organizing effective content. Course Outcomes: - analyze and write cause & effect essays, comparison essays, reaction essays, and argument essays - write research papers and cite sources - identify the purpose, audience, and conventions of different writing tasks ․ analyze the essential components and structure of different genres ․ select appropriate vocabulary and styles for specific writing purposes ․ use effective strategies to enhance logic and the flow in writing ․ recognize and diagnose common writing issues and errors ․ reduce recurring writing problems in your own work
