Description of Course Details: 1. Homework and Assignments Course Assignments and Requirements (1) Class Participation (20% of final grade) Active involvement in class discussions is vital for the learning process, both for you and your peers. To contribute effectively, students are expected to come to class prepared, having thoroughly read and contemplated the assigned material. Your class participation grade will be calculated based on your meaningful contribution to class discussions. This means that your contributions must not only be relevant but also insightful, aiding in the clarification and understanding of concepts. Speaking up simply for the sake of being heard will not be considered as a meaningful contribution. Through thoughtful and informed participation, you'll enrich the learning environment for yourself and your classmates. The Class Participation grade will encompass:  Preparedness: Come to class having thoroughly gone through the assigned readings and materials. This preparation will be evident in your ability to contribute meaningfully to discussions and answer questions related to the topic.  Involvement in Discussions: Actively participate in class debates, discussions, and problem-solving sessions. Share insights, ask questions, and connect the material to real-world experiences or current events when relevant.  Respect and Attentiveness: Listen to others, respect differing viewpoints, and respond constructively. Staying engaged and attentive, even when not actively speaking, contributes to a positive learning environment.  Attendance: Simply attending class is the foundational step, but punctuality is crucial. Regular tardiness or leaving early will negatively impact your grade. If circumstances arise that affect your attendance or punctuality, it's essential to communicate this with me ahead of time. The classroom environment thrives when every student is invested. It's not just about vocal participation but also about being an active listener, a critical thinker, and a collaborator. Your grade in this section will be reflective of your holistic involvement in class activities and discussions. (2) Case Study Reading Note (30% of final grade) To enhance students' understanding of the case and improve the quality of classroom discussions, teachers will provide relevant cases for discussion throughout the semester based on the course content. Each reporting group member must deliver a 20-minute presentation to ensure a better comprehension of the case. There are no restrictions on the format of the presentation (e.g., slides, videos, activities, or drama performances). Additionally, the reporting group must propose a set of questions related to the case content to facilitate discussion and confirm students' understanding. After class, students are required to submit their reading notes by 18:00 on the same day. The notes should include: a. A summary of the case background proposed by reporting group. b. Extend questions proposed by instructors. The score received by the presenting group on the presentation day will account for 30% of total grade in this category (evaluated by other groups), while the scores from reading notes will account for 70% (evaluated by the instructor). Format: Instructor will provide the format of reading note every week. (3) Midterm (25% of final grade) According to the academic calendar, one midterm exam will be scheduled during the semester. The final exam will primarily cover material from the first half of the course. Exam questions will be based on class discussions, reading assignments, in-class questions not directly from the textbook, and class activities. The exam will be on April 8th, and we will review key materials in class to help you prepare. The exams are closed book. Additional details will be discussed in class as the exam dates approach. Make-up exams will not be available, so you must take the exams as scheduled. During the tests, all electronic devices must be turned off and put away. Each group will have 20 minutes in total, consisting of: 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A After the presentation, both the instructor and other groups will evaluate the presenting group: Instructor’s evaluation: 30% Peer evaluation (from other groups): 70% Final Submission: After receiving feedback and suggested improvements, revise your presentation materials and submit the updated file within 7 days after the end of the semester.
