這門課將銜接同學在過去所學的基礎人類學或社會學對於人與社會的討論。以情感與情緒為特定切入點，經由跨區域的情感民族誌經驗，我們將會展開學科之內，學科之間，關於"理性"與"非理性" 的情感與結構、社會乃至於個人的精彩對話。 1980年以來，人類學情感與情緒研究，在理論的發展已由民族誌的比較觀點，延伸至對歷史、政治及個人價值的關懷。與早期親屬研究往往將「情感」附屬於「結構」有所區別，當代情感民族誌研究重視情感的內容及主動性，探討情感與人之結群，或情感與個人價值間的關聯。以台灣的研究為例，近年以文化心理學、人類學為主的情感研究，也都以具體的經驗研究說明，情感與情緒的研究，為文化及個人、社會的研究，提供新的理解，以及與心理學或人類學的古典理論展開對話。民族誌的資料與田野經驗在這情感與文化的研究，是關鍵所在。而視情感與情緒為研究新切入點所突顯的民族誌特性更為情感人類學突出的貢獻。 本課程將閱讀台灣、東南亞、西南中國、南亞印度、大洋洲、中東、中南美洲、北美、北歐不同地區的民族誌。由此探討跨文化觀點下的個人與社會，婚姻與情感，悲痛與失落，暴力與道德，同情與情愛，所可能存在更寬廣的可能性與差異性。同時，將透過民族誌影片、紀錄片等非文字的敘事，感受、討論影像如何呈現與詮釋人的情感經驗。
與人類學 , 心理學, 文化心理學, 社會心理學等基礎知識有些關聯
這是一門結合閱讀、討論與報告書寫的人類學課程。每位選課的同學須積極參與閱讀、報告、討論和提問，並在老師指導下學習研究及書寫論文。
