This course aims to lead students review fundamental knowledge of stereochemistry, acquire its advanced knowledge such as conformation, configuration and chirality, and ability to grasp 3D space in brain. It includes subjects not only molecules having one or two (or more) stereogenic center(s), but also those without stereogenic centers. Prochirality and the use of NMR spectroscopy in stereochemistry will also be discussed as well as stereoelectronic effects in structures and reactions. Based on the basic principles, stereoselectivity in various reactions will be discussed.
