概述

This course is designed to help non-English major students develop English sentence structure and paragraph-level academic writing skills. A variety of rhetorical skills and grammatical supports is presented while all reading passages, exercises, and writing tasks feature current and general academic topics. The teacher's instruction includes familiarizing students with sentence structures, paragraph organizations, and evaluating their writings. The students need to practice the rhetorical skills, analyze the sample readings, and are encouraged to communicate their ideas in group brainstorming. The assignments help them master the essential grammar necessary for well-formed sentences and for specific paragraph organizations. Each student is recommended to book at least ONE online writing consultation at NYCU Self-study Center of LTRC. For detail, please refer to the Self-study Center at Library 3F. 先修科目

**Please Read: Important Course Information (1). This class will be conducted via Webex real-time online. Please join us on time. (2). Please prepare a webcam and headset and join the class via Webex online. If I cannot see and hear you, you will be counted as absent and will be removed from the class. (3) The teacher will distribute and explain a detailed syllabus with a tentative course schedule in the first class. If you do not attend the first class, you will lose your spot in this class. Our first class starts at 10:10 a.m. on 23 February (Monday). The meeting link and instructions are posted on E3. Students who want to add this course, please check the link (https://reurl.cc/DbGrxm) to attend the course on time. We will conduct an online add/drop lottery after the course introduction is complete. (4). The instructor emphasizes interactive teaching to enhance learning effectiveness. The course will include various interactive elements (e.g., chatbox messaging, group discussions, sharing, activities, quizzes, etc.) and is therefore not suitable for participation via small-screen devices such as mobile phones or tablets. It is not a passive online class where you can just log in without turning on your camera or microphone. (5). Please be advised that this is a fast-paced course conducted without a teaching assistant, requiring students to be well-prepared. For each online session, students must be equipped with a reliable laptop or desktop, a stable internet connection, a webcam, and a headset. Furthermore, it is essential that the Webex software is successfully installed and tested in advance.

The medication receipt with correct stamp of date by accredited hospitals can be seen as a valid proof. If you are absent for more than 3 lessons without advance notice, you will fail the course.
