This seminar aims to familiarize students with the tradition and corpus of Asian American literary and visual representations. Through close reading of some of the most influential/controversial Asian American literary, visual and theoretical texts, we will address issues such as gendered narratives of Asian American racial formation and immigration, queering Asian America, graphic representations of Asian America, medical humanities, war memories and (post)colonialism.
Class attendance and participation: 20% Midterm 35% Final Exam 35% Oral report 10%
