This course introduces students to theories of affect studies. Given that gender and sexuality studies, as well as film and media studies, are the disciplines that have produced the most theoretically exciting writings on affects over the last two decades, the course will have a dual emphasis on how affects are discussed and conceptualized in these disciplines. 本課程向修課學生引介情感（情動）理論與研究。此外，因性別研究、與電影/媒體和影像研究在近二十年是情感理論與研究的最重要與精緻的先鋒與推進領域，本課在討論情感理論與研究時，也將引介此二領域如何討論與概念化情感、政治性情感（political affects）及其文化政治。 For this semester, we will read the work of Raymond Williams, Sara Ahmed, Brian Massumi, Lauren Berlant, Heather Love, José Esteban Muñoz, Ann Cvetkovich, and many others.
1. This course is primarily taught in English, yet students can participate in our discussions and write their term papers in English or Mandarin Chinese. 授課教師以英語授課，必要時提供中文翻譯；修課學生可選擇以英語或中文參與討論。 2. As usual, we will have a virtual class space on Discord. It is our intellectual engagement with our contemporary media environment as film and media scholars and artists. 如同以往，我們會使用當代媒體平台作為我們的課程虛擬空間；這是我們作為電影與媒體研究者在當代媒體環境裡的知識實踐。本學期使用Discord.
Students who take this course may 1) write a term paper, 2) produce a documentary, an experimental film/video, or an essay film; or design a computer game, or produce a work of art in any form, provided that they speak to me first and obtain my permission; or 3) curate an art/media/film exhibition or festival as the final project for the class. 期末作業可以1）選擇撰寫期末論文。期末論文可以分析電影與媒體文本，也可是純粹的理論分析論文；2）有創作背景的同學可以以電影或錄像作品、論文電影、實驗錄像作品、電腦遊戲設計、影像策展或其他形式作品等方式呈現；請先與授課教師討論並取得同意。
