This course aims to analyze planning and resource scheduling problems within logistics systems using mathematical models. It covers key topics such as forecasting analysis, inventory management, production and operations planning, and operations scheduling. The course addresses both long-term planning and short-term operational issues. In addition to methodology, significant emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of logistics management. Furthermore, the course includes training in software applications, such as Excel, to enhance students' ability to tackle real-world problems they may encounter in the field.

Lecture and homework
1. Evaluation and Grading Policy: (1) Homework: 20%; (2) Class Participation: 5%; (3) Exam I: 25%; (4) Exam II: 25%; (5) Exam III: 25%; The instructor will give in-class lectures unless the University mandates all the courses must be given online. All the examinations will be in class. Please do NOT take this course if you need to take your final examination before Prof. Yao's planned schedule (i.e., 2026/06/11). Students needing three credits from this course for graduation should pay close attention to this message. Here are two suggestions for you: (1) Consider dropping this course and choosing one that you feel more confident in. - Please note that some students have failed this course over the past two years. - Additionally, there will NOT be any opportunities for extra projects, exercises, or reports to earn extra points for any student. (2) Alternatively, practice using the examples in the handouts, the exercise problems, and the additional supplement problems available in the E3 system to prepare for the examinations. 2.
