概述

Navigating the workplace can be tricky sailing, especially in a different culture and a foreign language. This course aims to help prepare students to interact effectively and appropriately with colleagues, customers, peers, invited guests and superiors, among others, in both formal and informal business situations. In line with the objective of helping students to become more confident and effective communicators in English, the course will focus primarily on students' speaking and listening skills. Students will engage in a wide variety of individual, pair and group activities, role plays and discussions, in addition to focused listening activities, associated with each of these areas. At the end of this course, successful students will be able to: Evaluate various business and social situations and interact accordingly with colleagues and associates. Develop meaningful and beneficial relationships with peers. Identify and avoid potentially dangerous behaviours and inappropriate business practices. In addition, this course and it's assessments will help students to develop their intercultural communicative competences including interaction skills, cultural knowledge, and critical awareness. Please be aware that this is an English language skills course and not a computer science course. Networking here refers to the practice of developing business or social relationships between humans, and not linking computers together. Just so we're clear.
