進階英文聽力與討論

This course aims to develop students' general English proficiency at the B2 level, with an emphasis on improving English listening and speaking skills. Approximately 50% of the course content is related to academic contexts. It aims to advance students' English listening and speaking skills. Students will further develop listening skills through authentic listening materials. Students will also develop speaking skills through a variety of interactive activities. By the end of the course, students will learn to: - comprehend English listening materials of different topics - take notes - understand different accents - speak with confidence - express personal opinions - ask and answer questions appropriately - lead and participate in effective group discussions - deliver oral presentations using visual aids

Attendance 10% Attendance is taken every class. Students will engage in group discussion on topics related to the textbook materials and work on the assigned tasks together. You are expected to actively participate in group discussion and each person will take on a role during discussion. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed. Pre-class preparations/assignments 20% Students will be assigned to watch videos or complete textbook materials before class. Quizzes or assignments will be used to evaluate students' pre-class preparation. In-class tasks 30% In-class tasks include group discussions or/and group presentations and will be evaluated. Your active participation is required. Midterm & Final exams 30% The midterm and final exams will cover the skills practiced in class and in assignments. Both listening and speaking skills will be assessed in the exams. Therefore, your regular preparation for the course and active participation in class activities can help you effectively prepare for the exams. Self-study center activities 10% You will be required to participate in self-study activities hosted by the LTRC or OBE. Specific guidelines will be provided in class.
