This course is designed to cultivate students’ critical reading proficiency in English while concurrently developing their academic writing skills. Emphasis will be placed on preparing students for academic study, including critical thinking, source-based communication, and genre-specific tasks. By the end of each course, students should be able to: - Write a well-structured 250-300 word academic essay with a clear thesis, supporting arguments, and conclusion. - Engage in written academic communication using appropriate structure, register, and vocabulary - Express and justify opinions or arguments with academic support (sources, evidence) - Use a range of academic skills such as note-taking, paraphrasing, summarizing, outlining, and referencing
students' academic English proficiency should be at CEFR B2 level. Students understand complex texts on diverse topics, including technical discussions in their field. They can present and explain viewpoints on a wide range of topics, outlining advantages and disadvantages of different topics.
Students should not rely entirely on AI for reading comprehension or writing tasks. Instead, AI should be used selectively and at appropriate times to genuinely support the development of these skills. As such, students are expected to follow the instructor’s guidance and utilize AI tools at designated stages to identify blind spots
