概述

This reading-focused course at the CEFR B2 level aims to develop students’ academic English proficiency with an emphasis on reading comprehension and speaking skills. The course draws primarily on academic contexts, giving students frequent opportunities to engage with academic texts and discussions. It is designed to strengthen students’ ability to read academic texts with enhanced fluency, apply effective reading strategies, and use ideas from these texts in structured oral communication tasks. In this class, students will read academic and adapted texts and occasionally work with visual or multimedia sources to support understanding. Oral discussion skills will be practiced through a variety of collaborative formats, such as pair work, small group discussions, and presentations. A focus will also be placed on accurate pronunciation of key terms, as well as the application of academic vocabulary and sentence structures presented in readings. By the end of the course, students will be able to: Work out the meaning of unfamiliar words from context. Take notes using their own words to capture key ideas from academic readings. Use a range of reading strategies to accomplish reading goals effectively. Express opinions and arguments orally with clarity and confidence. Ask and answer questions appropriately in academic discussions. Lead and participate actively in group discussions on academic topics. Present key points by synthesizing and integrating information from readings. Speak from notes with logical organization and clear delivery. Deliver oral presentations using visual aids to support their message.
