Taiwan government statistics indicated that the number of people aged 65 years and above in the total population is 4,673,155 and will reach 20.06% of the total population in 2025. Taiwan has officially entered a super-aged society. Due to Taiwan aging rapidly, elder care knowledge has become crucial as Taiwan has become a super-aged society. This course aims to introduce reading, listening, speaking, and writing in "English for elder care" at the CEFR B2-C1 level. Specifically, course units offer step-by-step instruction to develop students' professional knowledge in elder care vocabulary and context. The following topics of elder care will be introduced and discussed in classes, such as the facilities and locations, the medication, the administration, the fall prevention, the common diseases, and the legal concerns. By the end of this course, students will be able to: ● Use appropriate medical terminology to describe symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments. ● Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues in simulated clinical interactions. ● Understand and summarize medical case reports and journal articles. ● Write patient case notes, discharge summaries, and referral letters with clarity and precision.
